CLIENTS
Why hire Tangent? Here’s our most recent track record.
West Vancouver Freight Access Project – Port of Vancouver, Washington
This is a 10 year $137 million project which transfers ownership of
property from the BNSF Railway to the Port. The project is also in the
process of reconfiguring and expanding trackage within the Port to
accommodate multiple unit trains and improve capacity and efficiency.
Tangent has been an integral team member guiding the Port in
negotiations with the BNSF resulting in a new master agreement. Tangent
also provides technical support to the engineering team ensuring that
the designs will be operationally efficient.
Oregon Rail Plan – Oregon Department of Transportation, Salem, Oregon
As part of a large multi-disciplinary team, Tangent provides the rail
expertise and project management for rail and freight study efforts. We
have led the studies comparing models of public ownership of rail
assets and also of a broad rail overview and industry analysis. Tangent
has provided technical input for commodity flow analysis and potential
passenger operations on freight railroads.
Rail Master Plan – Infrastructure and funding – Port of Morrow, Boardman, Oregon
The Port of Morrow has vast tracts of industrial land available for
development and found they were unable to secure additional rail
service for potential industrial tenants. Tangent worked with the Port
to devise an infrastructure and operating plan, secured the input and
gained approval from the Union Pacific Railroad. Key to this effort was
the planning and funding of an 8,200 foot controlled siding along the
mainline adjacent to Port property. Tangent worked with the Port to
secure $7.9 million in funding and that portion of the rail plan will
be constructed by the end of 2010.
Economic Opportunities Analysis, Rail Accessible Land Supply –
Central Oregon Area Commission on Transportation – Redmond, Oregon
Tangent worked with COACT to provide an overview of rail operations and
infrastructure in Central Oregon. We described the relationships
between the Union Pacific, the BNSF Railway and the City of Prineville
Railroad. We identified and ranked potential rail served industrial
sites in the Madras to La Pine corridor. A matrix was developed which
graded and weighted components which are important for ensuring rail
service for future development.
